So this isn’t my Author blog that’s been sitting on the sidelines for who knows how long. And it isn’t the frazzled mommy blog that I’ve been tempted to create out of frustration. This is a shared blog for my family to show that you don’t have to picket parliament or start an organic farm to impact the world around you.
Truth be told, I’m hoping that a little blogging will vamp up the kids’ writing skills which their report cards implied (or more than implied) could use some work. That being said, my boys have taught me that kindness is not measured in size of act but size of heart. Its finding the home of a lost dog or picking up litter at our favorite park that builds community and shows a generosity of spirit which is infectious to those who witness it.
So I’m giving up my guilt that I don’t recycle every possible thing, finding contentment in the fact that my recycle pile is now larger than my trash can. And yes, my kids ate hotdogs for supper twice last week, but we cooked them around a campfire, sharing a starry night with people we love.
We can impact the world with such small steps. Missteps at times, but I can live with that. I will do my best to let the individualism show with each boy’s post and edit only their spelling and grammar. I’ve been blown away by the insight and honesty that comes from a young mind.
So, stay tuned for the trial and tribulations of a family’s journey to leave the world a little better than we found it. If I can promise you anything its that we will NOT do everything right. But we will try and we will laugh and we will take our lumps when necessary.

Great first post Daina! It really is about the small acts that make an impact daily. I tell my girls all the time that what I want most is for them to be good people. Period.
Love it!! Can’t wait to read the boy’s experiences.
What was that I felt? Oh, it was the weight that has just been lifted from my shoulders for all the things my family has done imperfectly. Thank you for the reminder of what is actually important!
Yay! This is fantastic… can’t wait to read all you have to share and I’m with Sheri on this one 😉
Love love! It’s nice to the “border on insane people” in the world may be the most grounded. Can’t wait to see what you post next.
How well you put your thoughts (and ours) into words! Don’t worry about the insanity, it runs in the family 😉
Love it Daina! Very much agree that small acts can make a huge impact! Looking forward to the next one!
